Day 17 - Reading, Fez: Yet again, I awake to cold, grey, miserable weather. It set the tone for the day, and I think we all felt chilled to the bone, struggling to get warm. Upon entry to the venue, I soon discovered that there was no warmth to be found in here either! I find a shower..........which nearly gets me warm, but then I have to get out, and soon become freezing again! A ham sandwich, a cup of coffee, and a banana later, I decide to head back to the bus, put something warm on........a hollowed out Yeti would be nice (I settle from a jumper 100% cotton), and distract myself by catching up with bits and bobs of work, and tour diaries etc. As I'm sure you can tell, I'm not exactly an English Laureate, and most of these diaries were written after the event. I am however noticing that I am crossing tenses, and perspectives in my writings, so I hope you don't find this too offensive and wish to cause me harm! We were very apprehensive about playing this gig, as we have never played in Reading before. Even though every crowd is different, sometimes you can get an idea of how the gig will go, based on past experiences................................as we had none, we couldn't do this! One other thing I was nervous about, was the fact that it was still freezing......nightfall made the whole place even colder, and even the stage was quite cold. Trying to get my fingers warmed up before the gig was a nightmare, so I just settled for keeping my hands in my pockets for as long as possible!! The gig itself went really well, fingers soon warmed up, Will sang like an angel, Tom amazed with his agile finger-work, and Bren beat the living monkeys out of some drums. We coordinated our efforts nicely, and managed, in our opinion, to successfully recreate our songs. Job done! My only issue with the gig, was a cheeky guy near the front who ignored the rules about camera usage during the gig, and almost blinded me during one of the later songs. He is now marked for death :-) Day 18 - Day Off, London: Nothing to report here, just a nice day off at home!! www.lewisslade.com/thirteensenses
