Gene's future unclear Gene say their future is unclear after parting company with Polydor Records - the band deny they've been dropped. Frontman, Martin Rossiter, explained to Radio 1 what's going on: "There are stories going around that suddenly Gene have started their own record label and Gene are doing this and Gene are doing that. We're currently more interested in the songs we're writing", he says. "We've almost written half an album already and we'll see in what form it eventually gets to torture the public. I'm not gonna say a definite one way or the other, really, 'coz I don't know". And he says of the situation with Polydor: "No band ever gets dropped for selling a lot of records. Certainly, we instigated the split, and whether that was merely a speeding up of the inevitable, I can't say, but it wasn't working". And he added: "It was a case where we felt we were going in completely opposite directions - we were heading north and they were heading south." www.lewisslade.com/genemusic
